Useful information

Arriving by road

From the A7 motorway, take the Avignon Nord exit, then follow Avignon and Avignon Centre. Drive along the ramparts via Boulevard de la Ligne, beside the Rhone, then enter the city through Porte de la Ligne.

Turn immediately right into Rue des Remparts de la Ligne and continue to Rue de la Banasterie. The house is at number 11.

Our parking advice

Avignon is a medieval city: streets are narrow, traffic is slow and parking can be difficult. If you have little luggage, the simplest option is to go directly to the Palais des Papes car park.

The entrance to the car park is outside the ramparts, Boulevard de la Ligne, between Porte de la Ligne and Pont Saint-Benezet. From the pedestrian exit, reach the forecourt of the Palais des Papes, then walk down Rue Peyrolerie. Rue de la Banasterie is on your left, about 3 minutes away.

Arriving by train

Avignon TGV station is in the Courtine district, outside the city centre. A dedicated shuttle connects the TGV station with the city centre for TGV arrivals and departures.

From Avignon Centre station, you can reach the historic centre on foot, by taxi or by public transport, then continue towards the Palais des Papes and Rue Peyrolerie.

Nearby car parks

  • Parking des Italiens: free, with a shuttle to the city centre every 5 minutes from 7 am to 8 pm, then every 20 minutes from 8 pm to midnight, Monday to Saturday.
  • Parking du Palais des Papes: paid car park, around 100 m on foot from the house.
  • Parking central des Halles: paid car park near the historic centre.

Good to know

For a smooth arrival, choose the Palais des Papes car park if you are travelling light. The final access to La Banasterie is then very easy on foot through the old streets of the historic centre.
