direction
by car
Leave the highway A7 to the extit "Avignon nord" then follow
the signs "avignon centre" drive along ramparts (the Rhone (river)
on your right) enter in the city by the door "Porte de la ligne"
(follow the yellow sign La Mirande) and turn immediately on your right
"rue des remparts de la ligne" until "rue de la Banasterie",
we are to N°11
Avignon is a medieval city the streets are very narrow it's difficult
to drive and to park into.
if you have not too much luggage my advice is:
when you are along the wall continue until the next door "la porte
du rocher" ( just after "la porte de la ligne" and before
the St Benezet bridge) and park your car in the Popes palace parking
(parkings palais des papes) then you'll go out in front of the popes palace.
you look it and go to the right corner of the Palace. There is the small
street "rue de la peyrolerie" go down it until the "rue
de la Banasterie" (on your left) 2 or 3 minutes from the parking
Direction by train
The TGV station is at around ten minutes from the Avignon historical
center by car.
So,you have to take a cab or the shuttle, just down on your left.
The shuttle (navette) arrives near the main street, inside the rampart
(and in front of the train station center)
you have to walk in the Republique street , in direction of the Popes
Palace, go down to "Place de l'Horloge" walking until the popes
Palace, then on your right, you go down the small street called rue "Peyrolerie"
(on your right at the corner of the Palace) and you arrive "Place
des Chataignes", then you turn on your left "rue de la Banasterie"
we are on n°11 (15 minutes by foot) but you can also take a bus from
"cours Jean
Jaures" until "place de l'horloge"., then walking to the
Popes Palace, then take on your right "rue Peyrolerie",
go down to the square "Place des chataignes" then turn on the
left in Rue de la Banasterie.
